How to Raise your Kids 101

Posted by 1800ucs on July 15, 2009

I think kids can be bred to be smart.  Its critical to read book to them from birth, especially, around one-and-a-half to three.  Read many and much.  This is a critical foundation for preschool.   But remember; reading is not the only thing.  Explain as your read and point the words you are reading or scan the words with your finger as you read. This will help them learn to read quickly and by explaining things that you read, they will get the tools to see the bigger picture.   I think this helps in their imagination, but not sure,  as kids are pretty good at that without any help.

This will result in a smart kid.  There are two kinds of smart: smart common sense and knowledge smart or book smart.  If I had to pick, common sense is more important because its part natural selection, the alpha in a  group.  I believe if you do the above with your kids, common sense is acquired.

Your kids will develop their own personalty which is part of their genial makeup.  But their brain is yours to develop.  You might have herd of the physiologist who took his young daughter Susan Polgar and made her in to the grand chess master. He basically made her brain.

When you have set the foundation, when they are around 4 or 5,  you will be amazed at what they can accomplish.  But you have to encourage, be positive, understanding and push them.  If you do not push they will get bored and loos interest.  You have to encourage then to stay with what THEY what to do, be it art, music, sports.  Music is the best of the three mentioned.  Try to get you kid to learn an instrument and stick with it.  Very important.

Do not get discouraged if music is not what they want to do.  That is just not their thing.  There are many things in this world one can excel and be a master at.

Unfortunately, blogging is not mine.
